The 2017 Fair Season has come to a close with several Fall Festivals still in the works. It has been a good year for most all our member events with attendance at least as strong as 2016. Those that managed to get by without a “Rain Event” during their schedule enjoyed an increase in fairgoers. Seems as if no one just got rain. If you did get rain, you really got rain. Some as much as 8 inches during your run The carnivals we have spoken with Have had good years as well. Good plans make for good results. With the season behind us in most

Seems as if no one just got rain. If you did get rain, you really got rain. Some as much as 8 inches during your run The carnivals we have spoken with Have had good years as well. Good plans make for good results. With the season behind us in most cases our attention turns to our annual convention which will again be held in Columbia Missouri January 27 to 30, 2018. Planning is well on it’s way however we are always open to suggestions for workshops, roundtables, entertainment, and menu selections etc. It’s your convention and we try to fit it to your needs. Lets us hear from you. We have revised the method of dues assessments. In the future it will be based on attendance levels and not budgets. With research it does not appear anyone will be assessed any additional dues however it will give us more information as to attendance at our events. The change should be seamless. Included in this newsletter is a 2017 convention registration form combined with a membership form. One form rather than two. You will receive both the forms separately as well this year as we make the transition to less paperwork. The goal is to make it easier for our members to handle the paperwork if it is all in one place. Some of our members have already sent 2017 dues in that is fine. No it is not necessary to register for the convention if you wish to send dues in separate. We are just looking for ways to make things more convenient for you. So you think you can sing !! At each of our evening showcase events we begin with the National Anthem . For 2017 we opened that opportunity up to our fair and festival attendees. If that is something someone from your event wants to do in front of 500 screaming fans let us know. Good recognition for your event. Mark your calendars now for January 27 – 30 2018. See you in Columbia. Mark Young MAFF President
